About Us - You know you want to know
Through the love of my Dad.
My shop came into being after the sad death of Dad. He had suffered with dementia for many years and it was through watching him suffer the loss of identity, dignity and history that the memory quilt was born.
Dad had been a very artistic man who instilled in me the importance of always striving for perfection, which is a lesson I have carried with me to this day.
I was brought up in a creative family, aside from Dad, my Nanny was a great knitter and two of my Aunts were dressmakers. One of them made dance costumes and she was the one who encouraged and taught me how to sew.
Along with my passion to try and preserve identity for as long as I can for the dementia patient, I now also make gifts that celebrate the good things in life like weddings and births etc.
I can't remember a time when I didn't have a needle and thread in my hand, and I can't imagine a time when I won't!
I have been sewing since I was a small child. My aunt used to make costumes and toys and I loved just sitting at her table, watching her work. It wasn't long before she used to give me small patterns to make up and, as they say, the rest is history!
